| Parking Garages by PG1 |
| Project: | Parking Garage Structure Restoration | | Location: | Hamilton, Ontario | | Project Completion: | 2003 | | Project Value: | $300,000 - $400,000 |
General: The original parking garage deck was constructed with asphalt on top of concrete without a waterproofing membrane. After stripping the asphalt it was determined that the suspended slab was so severely contaminated with chlorides that replacement was the only option. The repairs consisted of the following: Disposal of the suspended concrete slab and perimeter parapet wall by means of hydraulic and pneumatic breakers. Formed a new slab, installed a new epoxy coated reinforcing bar and poured a new concrete slab and parapet walls. Installed a hot applied rubberized membrane complete with protection board and upturns. Applyed asphalt topping, parking stall lines and numbers
Notes: The project also included the replacement and restoration of most columns on the lower level. The lighting system was upgraded and replaced on the upper and lower levels. The use of concrete pump machines greatly increased the productivity of the project. |
